More Simple Back to School Alphabet Activities for Kids

By | August 20, 2013
These back to school alphabet activities are perfect time fillers that are also budget friendly. We like very hands-on alphabet activities  as well as activities that serve several functions.  There's nothing really messy included in this list except for water. Set up time is generally quick, but some might take a little more than others like the water balloons. Click links above pictures for full set up or follow directions provided for simple back to school alphabet activities.

Alphabet Puzzle Piece Search Rice Sensory Bin

This is a simple alphabet activity to put out that combines puzzle skills and sensory bin play. I included a pair of tongs for fine motor skills. Once the puzzle is done, toss in some cups and spoons for rice play! rainbow rice letter puzzle

Paper Plate & Clothes Pin Letter Match

I used a large paper plate and a medium size for this one. Here are two examples. The first I simply took a marker and wrote the letters around it and the second I used my cool rainbow stickers (needed the bigger plate for the size). Then I took my clothes pins and wrote the letters on those too. I put them in a bowl next to the plate and there you go! More great fine motor letter activities!

Paper Towel Tube Letter & Sticker Match

Take a paper towel role out of recycling and write the alphabet around it. I like to stock up on dollar store stickers so that I have plenty on hand. I wrote the alphabet on those too and he matched them up. Twisting the role in his hand was very stimulating for finishing this alphabet activity! Check out more great fine motor letter activities.

These are great! I’m working on getting my 4-year-old more familiar with the alphabet in the year before she goes to kindergarten so these will definitely help Thanks!
