MEASURING WITH CANDY HEARTS

This candy heart measuring activity is quick and easy to set up.

SUPPLIES:

  • different sized paper hearts
  • ruler or tape measure
  • conversation heart candies

You can add a pen and dice for variety or additional play. We also measured out some lines and took turns rolling the die and counting out candies until we used up what was in our tray!

HOW TO MEASURE WITH CANDY HEARTS

To begin our candy heart measuring, I modeled the first heart by showing him the measuring tape and pulling it out across the widest part of the heart.

Then I showed him how we can also measure by using the candy hearts. He already knew our candy heart measuring was called standard and non-standard measurement from Sid The Science Kid.

As long as you use the same thing {like a candy heart} you can measure with it! That’s called non standard measurement. A ruler or tape measure would be standard measurement.
