April! Spring! Earth day! We all know that Earth Day should be every day. However, it is highly recognized on a specific day during April. Use these engaging Earth Day STEM activities to explore the world around you! Let’s all conserve water and energy, recycle and reuse, and tread lightly on our planet daily.
Earth Day Science
What makes for great Earth Day STEM activities? I love science experiments and projects that reuse, re-purpose, and recycle what’s already in your house. Not only is this great for the environment, but it makes for very frugal science learning!
Earth Day is also a time to think about planting seeds, growing flowers, and caring for the land. Learn about the life cycle of plants and trees. Learn about water pollution, energy conservation, and your footprint on the world, and more.
This year, we will be trying out some new kinds of Earth Day STEM activities for preschoolers than we had previously done. We also have great hands-on Earth Day activities, including simple science experiments with a blue and green theme.
TIP: Any Earth Day art activity or recycling project, whether a conservation project, science experiment, or neighborhood cleanup, is also an excellent gateway to have conversations with your kids. Enjoying a fun activity together always presents an excellent opportunity to discuss what’s important!
This Spring, you can countdown to Earth Day with us as we explore these Earth Day STEM activities. Make sure to check out our Spring STEM activities, too!

Every day we can do out part to keep the world clean and beautiful. We can learn how to conserve resources and protect the planet! Here are a few practical ways to get started.
How Many Lights Are On
At breakfast, lunch, and dinner, check out how many lights are on and write down the numbers. You can also check more frequently during the day.
You can then graph it! Add the total for the day and keep track over the course of the week. You can have a daily graph and then a graph of the daily totals for the week.
Now take action by turning off the lights as you leave a room!
Brushing Teeth Water Conversation Activity
