These Easter slime surprise eggs were totally my son’s own invention. He loved the baking soda science surprise eggs we did last week and wanted to do another kind of surprise egg activity this week. Our homemade slime is easy to make and fun for these surprise eggs! What you put into the slime is up to you, but my son had a few ideas he wanted to share.
EASTER SLIME SUPRISE EGGS FOR KIDS!
HOMEMADE SLIME AND EASTER SUPRISE EGGS
These Easter slime surprise eggs are easy and fun to make for play or just a fun surprise! Our first round of science themed surprise eggs were lots of fun, so we thought of another fun way to make them!
Plus slime is science too. You can read more about polymers and what happens when you add a cross linker like liquid starch to a polymer here! It makes for a great chemistry lesson that is totally hands on for kids!
My son thought of fun things you can hide in slime.
HOMEMADE SLIME RECIPE You will need this recipe to make your slime. Supplies for this basic slime are liquid starch, Elmers washable glue, and water. Food coloring and glitter are always optional. Both white and clear glue work nicely. Click on the black box!
STEP 1: Make your slime with our simple slime recipe! It’s really easy. Below you can see the slime that has just been mixed. I am pulling it out of the bowl just as it is all made! We added a lot of glitter to ours.
STEP 2: Fill your Easter slime surprise eggs with your slime and favorite items! That’s all there is to it. If your eggs have holes in the bottom, take a little tape and cover them or can you use a little hot glue to seal the holes.
My suggestion would be to make an d play with these in a specific area so as to not get slime on furniture or rugs. You will note some of our slime safety notes here.
Make sure to also check out our ERUPTING EGGS that we just tried out!
My son wanted to point out that his favorite items to hide in the Easter slime surprise eggs are LEGO minifigures, Pokemon, minions, and angry birds! However, you can use just about anything that will wash off easily and fit inside the eggs.
POKEMON GO FANS WILL LOVE THIS!

You can whip up the slime the night before, but I wouldn’t leave the eggs filled for a long time. Our Easter slime surprise eggs make a great play activity and are probably best played with and/or opened right away.
He even had fun filling and re-filling the eggs and hiding the items. Always wash hands and wipe down surfaces after playing with slime! It’s still a chemistry experiment after all.
