LEGO STAR WARS SCIENCE ICE MELT ACTIVITY

LEGO Star Wars Science Ice Melt Activity LEGO Star WarsPin

Creating an ice melt science activity is quite easy, but takes a few hours, so plan accordingly! An ice melt is a perfect science experiment for young kids. Why is this? Ice melting is a pretty easy concept for kids to understand and it is so easy to create icy themes that include your kid’s interests, like this Star Wars themed ice melt! We have more then 20 ice melts to try!

SUPPLIES:

Milk Carton or Plastic Container

Water

Star Wars Characters {LEGO minifigures or other plastic figures}

Glitter and Food Coloring {optional}

TO MAKE:

We used a milk carton and cut off the top so that we had an open container. I like using the milk carton because once frozen, you can easily rip away the container. The most important part of creating a great ice melt like this Star Wars science activity, is to freeze your characters in layers. Divide up your Star Wars characters into multiple piles and freeze a few at a time. I did 4-5 layers in this milk carton with a few figures in each layer. We chose to color the water blue and add glitter. The color did not stain the LEGO minifigures. make sure each layer is frozen before moving to the next. Once completely frozen, tear away container and place in a shallow pan/dish. This will help collect the water once it melts.

When your block of frozen Star Wars characters is ready, place in a large container. Add a bowl of warm water, basters, scoops, or squirt bottles to assist with the ice melting! This is a simple Star Wars ice melt activity that will really keep the kids busy! Be prepared to refresh the hot water plenty of times!
