What is a no cook sensory dough?
I like to think our no cook dough is a cross between play dough and cloud dough. Moldable, sculpt-able and more textured than regular play dough but also a bit more crumbly. It still can be rolled out and used with cookie cutters but it isn’t necessarily as smooth and pliable. It reminds me more of real cookie dough! {not edible though!}
Ingredients needed:
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 Â salt
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1/2 cup of very hot water
- spices {see individual dough descriptions for recommendations}

Christmas No Cook Dough Sensory Play
I added a bowl of cranberries and a bowl of very stale marshmallows to our play along with evergreen branches for a festive touch. I set them all out on the table with our favorite Christmas cookie cutters for morning sensory play.
We found a fun new play idea for this no cook dough. The dough is a bit stiffer than traditional play dough so the rolling pin wasn’t cutting it! We decided to stuff the dough into the cookie cutters and came up with “brownies”! He thought it was fantastic. Also great work for little hands!
We used all the dough to make a delightful tray of Christmas goodies for quite awhile. Then he wanted to play shop keeper and we used cranberries and marshmallows as money to purchase the “brownies”. I would call out a number and he counted out the money to pay for his treat! We did this with all of them! Great counting skills and one to one counting. He wanted the last four, so I gave him a price of 60 cranberries!
I love no cook dough for every day sensory play! In 5 minutes you have awesome sensory play. Stick it in a container and save it for the next day! Just give it a good knead with your hands and you are good to go. We have used ours for several days!
