I love to make search and find sensory bins and add a good pair of kid friendly tweezers or chopsticks. They are awesome tools for strengthening hands. Christmas fine motor sensory play is fun! Hands on play makes fine motor learning activities perfect for young children. Water beads are one of our favorite sensory bin fillers too!

Christmas Fine Motor Sensory Search

This is a super simple, reusable sensory play idea. You can reuse these water beads all year long! Quick fine motor activities like this Christmas fine motor sensory play idea make practicing an important skill feel like play time!

Supplies Needed:

• container of water beads {vase filler in craft store}
• container or baking dish
• mini ornaments
• kid friendly tweezers or chopsticks

Christmas Fine Motor Skills Work and Play

This a very simple set up that encourages fine motor skills and even counting skills too! Great way to multi task with one sensory play activity. I love making themed play ideas, so this Christmas fin emptor sensory bin is perfect. I found a cool pair of chopsticks to try instead of our usual tweezers to add some novelty! They worked perfectly for picking up the mini ornaments hidden in the water beads!

 

Your child can also use a pincer grasp to find the ornaments if the tweezers or chopsticks are too hard. This is great for multiple ages. Simply show your child how to use his/her thumb and first finger to pick up and transfer the mini ornaments. This is still great fine motor practice! Of course the added sensory play with the water beads is a whole other activity to enjoy as well! {You might want to toss them into a bigger container for some real sensory play after the activity is finished} Fun and simple Christmas fine motor sensory play for early learning!
