Christmas Scissor Skills Activity
We like quick set up activities with easy supplies like our recycled cards scissor skills or our everyday cutting practice ideas! Use what’s around, inexpensive and easy to work with too!
Supplies Needed:
- Bows
- Garland
- Crinkle paper ribbon/wrapping supplies
- Scissors
- Container {optional}
Place all your items in the container and add a pair of kid size scissors! Lots of play and fine motor skills! NOTE: The garland I purchased from the dollar store has a thin metal wire in it. Our scissors did cut it, but once I realized why it was a bit more difficult, I simply pulled the thin wire out and threw it away. Then, no problem!
Christmas Scissor Skills Fine Motor Play
It’s always fun to cut new items or novelty items. We do practice our scissor skills by cutting on lines and cutting around shapes, but sometimes you just need something fun and different. I find these unique scissor skills ideas are great for reluctant scissor enthusiasts! Practice in a playful way!
Cutting through the loops on the bows was particularly fun! The shredded clippings from our scissor skills activities made great sensory play. He loved piling them up! I heard Happy New Year in there as he threw some up in the air!
 When I saw this awesome little pile of sparkly clippings,  I had an idea for a simple Christmas craft activity. Take a look at our Christmas wreath. VERY EASY to make and a good way to use up all the little pieces!
My daughter always shouts Happy New Year when she tosses things in the air too, lol!
