CHRISTMAS TREE GEO BOARD FINE MOTOR AND STEM ACTIVITY
This month we are counting down the days until Christmas with our 25 Days of Christmas STEM Countdown Calendar. The supplies for this Christmas tree math activity and geo board are easy to grab and can be reused! Or check out our Christmas tree themed STEM ideas!
For our pumpkin geo board we practice hammering skills. However the Christmas tree geo board is a bit to awkward to navigate with a hammer! The nails push into the styrofoam easily and this is a great part of the fine motor skills practice. Check out the supply list and set up below.
A CHRISTMAS TREE GEO BOARD FOR FUN MATH PLAY
First we covered the styrofoam tree with our small nails and then we began adding the green loom bands to create a Christmas tree! Loom bands are terrific fine motor practice tools for little fingers. Lots of skill, patience, finger dexterity, and hand-eye coordinations are needed to manipulate loom bands.
SUPPLIES
White or green styrofoam trees {dollar store even has some!}
Small nails {using tacks didn’t work so well with the loom bands}
Loom bands { we used green but go ahead and make it all colors too}
Thumb tacks {we used the colored thumbtacks from the dollar store as ornaments}

Another neat thing about creating this Christmas tree geo board is the ability to make and talk about all sorts of geometric shapes. Overlapping loom bands creates even more shapes. A fun Christmas activity easily incorporates early learning skills for young kids.
