FOAM PLAYDOUGH RECIPE

This is a fun super soft foam playdough recipe. Check out our no-cook playdough recipe or our popular cooked playdough recipe for easy alternatives.

INGREDIENTS:

The ratio for this recipe is 2 parts shaving cream to one part cornstarch. We used one cup and two cups, but you can adjust the recipe as desired.

  • 2 cup of shaving foam
  • 1 cups of cornstarch
  • Mixing bowl and spoon
  • Food coloring
  • Glitter (optional)
  • Playdough accessories

HOW TO MAKE FOAM DOUGH

STEP 1:   Start by adding shaving cream to a bowl.

STEP 2:  If you want to add a few drops of food coloring, now’s the time! We made several batches of this fun foam dough for the colors of the rainbow.

STEP 3: Now add the cornstarch to thicken your foam play dough and give it that awesome texture.

STEP 4:  Time to get the hands in the bowl and knead your foam playdough.

Mixing Tip: The beauty of this 2 ingredient playdough recipe is that the measurements are loose. If the mixture isn’t firm enough, add a pinch of cornstarch. But if the mixture is too dry, add a glob of shaving cream. Find your favorite consistency! Make it an experiment!

HOW TO STORE FOAM PLAYDOUGH

This cornstarch playdough has a unique texture and is a bit different than our traditional playdough recipes. Because it does not have preservatives like salt in it, it will not last long. You will find foam dough dries out a lot quicker than traditional playdough.

Generally, you would store homemade playdough in an airtight container in the fridge. Similarly, you can still store this playdough with shaving foam in an airtight container or zip-top bag. It won’t be as much fun to play with again and again. Since it is so easier to make, you may just want to whip up a fresh batch to play with!

  1. In the description you said 1 part shaving cream and 2 parts cornstarch but the recipe says 2 cups shaving cream and 1 cup cornstarch. Which is correct?
