WHAT IS SLIME?

Is it a liquid or a solid? It stretches but then it breaks. It makes a ball and bounces. It feels slimy and wet, but it isn’t! These are some of the interesting observations my five year old made as we explored this slime recipe. Read our basics of homemade slime science to learn more!

Each kid had a slime making set up already on the table with two bowls.  hadI already the water and starch already poured. Depending on the age of the kids thy can do the measuring themselves.

I pulled the starch containers back so the glue wouldn’t accidentally get mixed into the starch. The kids emptied the glue, added food coloring, and sprinkled as much glitter as they wanted into the mixture.

Then everyone mixed and mixed. Parents supervised along the way, but it looked like they were having just as much fun too! I am sure it’s pretty nice when the mess isn’t at your house!

I don’t see anywhere where it says how much of each ingredient to use. Also it doesn’t say anything about water.

I’m planning a party for 12 kids, so I’m wondering if I want them each to make their own slime how big a container I need to have for each of them to take home what they will make? Or should I cut the recipe in half? TIA.

If you want them to make a whole recipe, then you want around a 2 cup container. You can buy the 4 packs of plastic containers at the store. You can easily split the liquid starch slime recipe in half or even thirds because the measurements are a 1:1:1 ratio!
