Fall Tree Mosaic LEGO STEAM Fall Activity

We are working our way through the seasons with another LEGO Fall tree mosaic! You may have seen our Apple LEGO Tree already! We also made some awesome LEGO Apples with basic LEGO bricks. These simple building blocks are pretty popular around here. Although my son loves to build sets, we also use them for many creative LEGO STEM projects too. Check out 20 unique LEGO activities! I saved our basic tree from our LEGO Apple Tree. We created this by using flat pieces in varying shades of green and brown on a blue base plate. Here is my simple invitation to create a Fall tree mosaic using LEGO pieces.

This makes a great STEAM activity and seasonal project. He enjoyed layering the flat bricks to make the branches “pop-out” as he called it.

What is a mosaic?

A mosaic is a picture {or pattern} created with small or tiny pieces. Usually hard materials, so we chose LEGO pieces to make our LEGO apple tree mosaic!

We chose lots of Fall colors to create our LEGO Fall tree mosaic. We did lots of sorting to find Fall colors. We do have a great post on Affordable LEGO organization Solutions where you will see these yellow bins in action! As you can see, we have all sorts of tiny pieces to create a spectacular Fall tree mosaic. The tinier the pieces the greater the fine motor skills!

FALL LEGO CHALLENGE

This was a fun opportunity to incorporate technology into our STEAM Fall tree mosaic project. Believe it or not but we actually have some maple trees already starting to turn on our street, so we took a stroll to check out what was happening to the trees.

We also have a Changing Leaves Sensory Table to check out! Then we checked out images of beautiful Fall trees on my smartphone.

We also decided that the ground in our Fall tree mosaic should be covered in Fall colors! Layering more flat pieces in red, yellow, brown, and orange was a great finishing touch to our Fall tree mosaic STEAM project.
