MAKE FLUFFY EASTER SLIME RECIPE IN A PALETTE OF PASTELS!
Pastels do come to mind when I think of Easter! However, there’s a wide variety of egg colors out there now that you can match your Easter fluffy slime too.
However, I find that when working with our fluffy slime recipe made with a whole lot of white shaving cream (for super fluffiness) the colors are usually more on the pastel side anyway.
You can use less shaving cream for more vibrant colors, but we prefer the extra fluffy, Easter fluffy slime. Our homemade fluffy slime is like holding a cloud. We already use plenty of food coloring!

STORING YOUR SLIME
I get a lot of questions regarding how I store my slime. Â We use a reusable container either plastic or glass. If you keep your slime clean it will last for several weeks.
And…if you forget to store your slime in a container, it does actually last a few days uncovered. If the top gets a little crusty just fold it into itself.
If you want to send kids home with a bit of slime from a camp, party, or classroom project, I would suggest packages of reusable containers from the dollar store. For large groups we have used condiment containers as seen here.
NOTE: Fluffy slime will ultimately lose it’s fluff, but it’s still a super cool slime afterwards and it can be stored the same way as all of our other slimes.
THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE FLUFFY EASTER SLIME RECIPE
What’s the science behind the slime? The borate ions in the slime activators (sodium borate, borax powder, or boric acid) mix with the PVA (polyvinyl-acetate) glue and forms this cool stretchy substance. This is called cross linking!
The glue is a polymer and is made up of long, repeating, and identical strands or molecules. These molecules with flow past one another keeping the glue in a liquid state. Until…
When you add the borate ions to the mixture, it starts to connect these long strands together. They begin to tangle and mix until the substance is less like the liquid you started with and thicker and rubberier like slime!
Picture the difference between wet spaghetti and leftover spaghetti the next day. As the slime forms the tangled molecule strands are much like the clump of spaghetti!
Is slime a liquid or solid? We call it a Non-newtonian fluid because it’s a little bit of both!
NOTE: Why is fluffy slime fluffy? Take a moment and think about the extra special ingredient you added. The foam shaving cream comes out of it’s canister with air pumped into it giving itvwolume. This is what gives fluffy slime it’s volume too. Eventually the air goes out of the shaving cream as it does with the slime.
