PATRIOTIC SLIME SCIENCE

Did you know that slime is also an excellent science lesson for kids? Is it a liquid or a solid? It stretches but then it breaks. It makes a ball and bounces. It feels slimy and wet, but it isn’t! These are some of the interesting observations my five-year old made as we explored this slime recipe. It takes the shape of the container you put it in like a liquid, but you can pick it up like a solid! Read a little more in-depth here about polymers and chemistry. We aren’t quite there yet but sure had a lot of fun just the same!

  1. Patriotic slime xD … how unintentionally funny.

Btw, what becomes of the mass after the water has evaporated?

  2. It actually stays slime like for quite a long time. It can get dry the top if left out uncovered but if you fold it into itself, it should rehydrate. We keep puts in a plastic container and I can have a batch for 6 weeks. We usually toss it before it needs to be tossed.
