Simple Play and Learning With Real Life Skills
Welcome to another great week of the Fine Motor Fridays Blog Hop! I love Fridays and our chance to show off some great fine motor activities for kids happening over here! Hands-on play really facilitates fine motor skills work. Learn through play, practice through play, and develop life long skills through play! Fine Motor Skills for us is hand work, strengthening the hand muscles and working on finger grips/grasps that will prove so useful as he gets older!
4 Simple Ideas for Play
Items from your tool box and household supplies make great learning activities!
1. Take Apart And Fix
Although not a real life tool and item to take apart and fix, but it is great for fine motor skills and problem solving!
2. Locks And Keys
I have a small pencil bag (dollar store) with 2 locks and 2 keys. One small lock and one big lock to work fine motor skills is a fun challenge. Liam will play with these locks over and over. Makes a great busy bag!
3. Change The Batteries
Liam loves his flashlight and is sad when the batteries run out, so I thought we would change them together. (Always supervise kids with batteries!) Opening the flashlight, changing batteries and closing the flashlight as well as turning it on, is all great for fine motor skills!
4. Bolts, Washers, And Nuts
Awesome toolbox activity! I found 4 nuts of various sizes with matching washers and bolts. He sorted, sized and put everything together. Greater fine motor play and learning screwing the nuts onto the bolts! This also makes a great busy bag.
4 Fine Motor Skills Activities To Encourage Practical Life Skills
Always take a look around and see what you can show your child. Children love to help you and use what you use, so take a look at what is safe and appropriate and try some everyday fine motor skills play!
