Preparing Snack Bags for Anytime Snacks

Ok! So, this may look like I am writing a review for these snack products, but really, it is just what we buy! My goal for this very simple project was to make at least a week’s worth of snack bags that we could grab on the go. No thinking, just grab and go! I wanted this snack to be healthy with good fats, good carbs and some protein. A perfect mix for a complete, hunger free snack without a lot of added sugar! Here is our version of a trail mix.

We like cinnamon cereal, cashews, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, banana chips and raisins. It was a lot of fun to make together and we stash them in a place where he can easily reach them. This was such a simple thing to make together but also included lots of great skills and discussion points! I love multi-purpose activities! He worked with me from start to finish and even helped make each bag and count them!

This simple snack making session also gave us time to chat about good snacks and junk food snacks and how we need good foods for our body to grow big and strong. Sometimes it is okay to have a little bit of junk food snack as long as we have good snacks most of the time!

Since the bowl was getting a bit full and to avoid accidental dumping, we (well I) decided we should put a scoop of the nut, fruit, seed mix into each bag and then put a scoop of cereal in each bag!  Lots of controlled scooping and dumping!

One word needed! Yum!

Do you make snack bags? What’s your favorite recipe?
