The Ultimate Sensory Play Party #16
What does sensory play mean to us?
Sensory play means so many things to so many people! For us, sensory play is all hands-on and very interactive. It is all about exploring with our whole body and engaging in the world around us. We may be using all 5 senses or just a few but hardly ever just one, maybe never! Smelling and tasting cranberries, squeezing and rolling play dough, finding the tracks of paint in melted ice, feeling the stretch of the rubber bands and listening to the bubbling fizz of baking soda and vinegar all ignite the senses and encourage further exploration.
You don’t have to make a perfect sensory bin with a perfect theme to engage your child’s senses. Just ask yourself, how will they use their senses. Taste, Touch, Hear, See , smell, if you can accomplish a few of those and your child gets it, then you have made an awesome sensory project. Talk to them and ask them what their experiencing with your activity. Sensory play ideas are such a great pathway for conversations and learning moments! Play too, encourage a little mess, teach clean up, observe and explore ideas and have fun!
