Welcome to The Sensory Play Party!
Messy sensory play is a whole lot of fun!
I have had this large bin of red water beads sitting on my kitchen counter for at least a month now! Once I make them I use them as much as I can until it is time to dump them! These were used for my apples and water beads fall play as well as my creepy crawly Halloween sensory bin! What else could I do with them? Well, we have never tried mixing them with shaving cream and we have a new can of the white, creamy goodness from our rain cloud project earlier in the week.
Invitation to Play Set Up
To tell you the truth, I am really feeling under the weather and wanted something fun and different for Liam to occupy himself with while I could sort of relax. Of course I didn’t realize the amount of mess I was getting into but Daddy was home anyway. I set out a mirror as a different surface to play on since he enjoyed it for another activity we did a few weeks ago. I also had this large pumpkin so I put it on top. At this point I had no idea where i was going with this. I added a bowl of water beads, spiders, jack-o-lantern buttons, googley eyes, glitter, a rubber basting brush, potato masher, cookie cutters and of course shaving cream. Let him do what he wants was my goal!
How he played and played!
I let him play with the can of shaving cream as much as he wanted. Why not? Try not saying “no more” some time, it’s kind of fun! As you can see, he squirted quite a bit on to the pumpkin!
He really enjoyed the basting brush from the dollar store. He painted the whole mirror and then set about adding the water beads and other items wherever he wanted. He gave everything a good dusting of glitter too! Next he started talking about Halloween candy surprise and treats. I think he had some yummy ideas in his head!
I gave him a big spoon and he set about filling each of us a bowl of his candy and then put toppings on it for us. He couldn’t wait to pretend eat it too! When he was done with that, he wanted to start all over again but with just shaving cream this time. Thank goodness for daddy to help clean it up! Again nice to not say no!
