BOOKS ARE INSPIRING

BOOKS CREATE WONDER.

BOOKS SHARE A WHOLE NEW WORLD FULL OF POSSIBILITIES.

It’s all those possibilities that are so important to the foundation of STEM or science, technology, engineering, and math. You can even add art and make STEAM.

Kids who wonder, invent. tinker, create will eventually help build a brighter tomorrow for everyone.

What about books that encourage the most valuable of STEM’s life lessons. I bet you would want them on your shelf too. But more than that, our selection of STEM picture books is simple fun for kids and their adults.

Science activities for kids STEM STEAM lesson plans

What can you do with these great STEM picture books to emphasize the lessons learned?

Building structures of various materials is great fun for your little engineers. Challenge your budding inventors to build bridges or skyscrapers. Check out famous buildings and bridges around the world. Get outside and build a fort.

Set up a tinker station with loose parts for kids who love to putter and invent. Anything from bottle caps, to paper clips, to straws, popsicle sticks, painter’s tape and boxes really stretches the imagination and gets kids thinking about new inventions.

Set up a Three Little Pigs STEM challenge and see who can build the strongest house. Can you huff and puff and blow it down. Which design is the best, what materials are the strongest?

Make your own blue prints for your dream house. Plan, design, draw, and write what you wish your house or even just your bedroom would look like. Get out graphing paper, blue paper and white pencils, add color and texture!

Set up a science lab at home and put together a science kit for your kids filled with easy kitchen science activities. Or check out this list of simple science kits. We also love a potion mixing set up where kids can check out fun chemical reactions between common kitchen ingredients.
