Make our own Halloween soap to leave by our sinks. Even if you don’t decorate much for Halloween, this would be a cute item for a little punch of Halloween decor. Plus it will encourage periodic hand washing too! Making Halloween hand soap is quick and easy once you have your supplies.

HALLOWEEN HAND SOAP

Get kids to wash their hands the fun way with spooky Halloween soap!

We had great fun making our Halloween hand soap and deciding what items to put in the different colors. I will save you the trouble and tell you that google eyes are not a great idea. Our green Halloween soap was going to be monster eyes themed. However, the eyes clumped together, and no amount of pushing or stirring would get them to mix. I had to empty this soap and start over.

HALLOWEEN SOAP SUPPLIES:

Hand soap, sanitizer, or all natural soap

Choose whatever you like but clear hand sanitizer or hand soap is best. I chose Halloween colors for our Halloween soap.

Soap Container

You can either use empty containers and put your soap in yourself or purchase already filled containers which I chose to do. You will want to remove labels. If you have trouble removing them, rubbing alcohol does the trick and removed any sticky residue left over.

Halloween Items

Items that work best for the Halloween soap are plastic spiders and other plastic items like skeletons. I have both black spiders and glow in the dark spiders. We also used fun skull beads and pumpkin buttons.

TIP: I used a skewer to move the objects around and push them down. Have fun choosing items, but remember, they have to be able to fit through the opening! Some items we initially chose could not be used!

HOW TO MAKE HALLOWEEN SOAP

Making Halloween hand soap takes very little time. Simply open up the containers and stick your items inside! You will find that, eventually, most things settle depending on weight, but you can give it a stir or a good shake again if you like.

There’s even a science lesson built into this activity. Which items will sink the quickest? Which items will remain suspended? You could even bring up a mini-lesson in viscosity. Test out the water in comparison to the soap since you are by the sink!

HALLOWEEN COLORS

I used some glow-in-the-dark spiders and skeleton parts for the green Halloween soap. I saved a mixed bag of plastic Halloween parts purchased at the dollar store last year for our play this year. The craft store brought the skulls, pumpkin buttons, and table scatter. These items are also fun added to Halloween slime!

Leave a Halloween soap at each sink in your house. Give one to friends or bring one to your child’s classroom {if allowed}. This easy Halloween soap activity makes a simple Halloween decoration even for those who don’t care to decorate!
