Key Ingredient For Making Glue Free Slime

If you have ever wanted to make jiggly slime without glue, you have come to the right place. This slime recipe is super jiggly and wiggly and has a much different consistency than other slime recipes. I think your kids will love the texture of this no-glue slime. It’s fantastic for sensory play!

Note: this is not a recipe for slime without glue and borax! It is also NOT an edible slime. Although this no-glue slime recipe uses an edible ingredient, it still uses one of our primary slime activators.

We have made this slime without glue several times, and it comes together quickly and easily. Read on to find out the best ingredients for making slime without glue and more great ideas for no-glue slime-making fun!

The key ingredient is GUAR GUM! It’s a natural thickener!

Easy Guar Gum Slime Recipe Without Glue

This unique version of slime only uses a few simple ingredients. Grab them at the grocery store! We found Guar Gum in the specialty aisle of our local supermarket. You may also find it in the baking aisle. In addition, It is available on Amazon.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 tsp of Guar Gum
  • 1 cup of water (warm)
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp of saline solution (We like Target Brand. Read more about this below)
  • Food coloring

Instructions:

Safety Tip: Always wash your hands after playing with this slime recipe and wipe down surfaces thoroughly. You can read through more of our slime safety tips.

STEP 1: Add 1 cup of warm water to a mixing bowl. Sprinkle 1/2 tsp of guar gum powder over the surface of the water. Mix well so there are no lumps left.

STEP 2:  Add several drops of food coloring if desired. We always enjoy the neon green food coloring for a classic slime color.

STEP 3:  Time to add your slime activator ingredients, the baking soda, and the saline solution.

STEP 4:  Stir it up and watch your no glue slime form!

Once you feel your slime is thoroughly mixed, please pick it up and give it a jiggle!

Note: I have attempted to store this slime overnight, but it has not lasted for another day of play. We tried keeping it in the fridge as well. If you have found a trick to keeping this slime going longer, please let us know! However, it’s a slime experience you just have to try!

  3. I made this slime (saline solution, guar gum recipe) about a week ago and it has been played with daily. I opened the container yesterday and it was a liquid. Is this normal or did I do something wrong? I want to make for party gifts but I don’t want it to turn to a liquid.

  4. This is normal. It doesn’t hold together like traditional slime for as long. I am surprised it lasted a week!
