CHRISTMAS TREE I SPY GAME
SUPPLIES
Decorated Christmas tree or other decorated holiday set up
Smartphone, tablet or camera
I took photos of ornaments on our tree for our Christmas tree I spy game with my smartphone {tablet or camera will work too}. He knows how to swipe through photos on my phone of course! Our Christmas tree I spy game had 20 clues!
He had to use the clues in the photo to locate the ornament! Once he found it, he swiped through for the next clue. You could even offer a small prize at the end. I keep a few dollar store surprises on hand at all times.
CHRISTMAS TREE I SPY GAME VARIATIONS
Here are a few ideas for variations of the game and for a variety of ages or multiple children. Make a game to fit your needs!
Ages: Make the pictures harder or easier by zooming in or out with your camera. Older children will be challenged by having to search for a tiny clue from the ornament {like our gingerbread foot, below}. Younger children may need a picture of the whole ornament. If you have a younger and older child, alternate the images!
Multiple children: Have your children take the pictures for one another. Have them pass the phone around to take turns finding the ornaments. Play the hot and cold game by telling the person he or she is getting warmer or colder as he or she moves around the tree.
Variation: If you decorate the whole house, take pictures around the house to get the kids moving. One the last picture, hide a surprise! Maybe a bag of popcorn, hot chocolate packets or a Christmas movie!
On the Go: If you are at a relatives house, go around and gather the clues on your phone. It will be an extra challenge with an unfamiliar Christmas tree!
