HOW TO MAKE PAPER APPLES

3D PAPER CRAFTS

Paper crafts are a great way to occupy a morning or afternoon at home or in the classroom with some hands-on fun! Even better this colorful paper apples activity is a fun way of developing hand-eye co-ordination for preschoolers.

Grab a piece of paper and draw a circle on it. Now look around the room and see if you can find a ball of some sort; a basketball, a baseball or even a bouncy ball. Now what would you rather play with? The ball or the circle? You can pick the ball up, bounce it, throw it or roll it. What can you do with the circle? Nothing much! You can look at it and that’s about it.

You’ve just learned the difference between a 2D shape and a 3D shape. The circle is a two dimensional shape. It only has two measurements, such as length and width, and is usually called a “flat” shape. However the ball is a three dimensional shape because it has three measurements (length, height and width), and is sometimes called a “solid” shape.
