What are 3D Paper Crafts?

Paper crafts are a great way to occupy a morning or afternoon at home or in the classroom with hands-on fun! Even better, this colorful paper apple activity is a fun way to develop hand-eye coordination for kids of various ages.

Grab a piece of paper and draw a circle on it. Now, look around the room and see if you can find a ball: a basketball, a baseball, or even a bouncy ball. Now, what would you rather play with? The ball or the circle? You can pick the ball, bounce, throw, or roll it. What can you do with the circle? Nothing much! You can look at it, and that’s about it.

You’ve just learned the difference between 2D and 3D shapes. The circle is a two-dimensional shape. It only has two measurements, length and width, and is usually called a “flat” shape. However, the ball is a three-dimensional shape because it has three measurements (length, height, and width) and is sometimes called a “solid” shape.
