VALENTINE HEART CRAFT
Our 3D paper heart craft perfectly blends creativity and STEM learning! In this project, kids will explore basic engineering concepts as they fold, cut, and assemble paper into a 3D heart structure. This hands-on activity introduces geometry and spatial awareness while building fine motor skills. It’s a fun way to dive into the world of paper engineering, combining design, math, and problem-solving.
Supplies:
- Printable paper heart template (see below)
- Colored paper
- Scissors
- Stapler
- Glue
- String
- Tape
How to Make a 3D Paper Heart
STEP 1: Print out the hearts template above.

STEP 2: Place the heart printable on top of a sheet of colored paper.

STEP 3: Fold the papers in half so the hearts overlap. Fold in half again. Then cut the hearts out with scissors.

STEP 4: Fold each paper heart in half.

STEP 5: Stack all 6 hearts on top of each other. Staple the hearts twice down the middle.

STEP 6: Spread apart the hearts so they create a 3 dimensional heart shape. Tape the string along both sides of the staples and use to hang your heart ornament.
