CIRCLES IN ART

The circle as a basic shape has always enchanted the human mind. Many mathematicians and philosophers consider it the most perfect of all geometric shapes. For artists the mysterious circle is something of wonder and beauty. Circles can appear in art either as circle shapes or as things stellar orbs, wheels, sundials, clocks, circular paths etc.

Wassily Kandinsky is a famous artist known for using circles in his work. He believed the circle had symbolic significance relating to the mysteries of the cosmos and used it as an abstract form.
