SUPPLIES:
- 1/4 tsp Borax Powder {found in laundry detergent aisle}.
- 1/2 cup Elmer’s Clear Washable PVA School Glue
- 1 cup of Water divided into 1/2 cups
- Glitter, Confetti, Food Coloring (optional)

HOW TO MAKE NEW YEAR SLIME
STEP 1. Add your glue and water to a bowl and grab a mixing utensil.

STEP 2. Mix in food coloring, glitter, and confetti as desired. Add the sparkle and shine with glitter and confetti.

STEP 3. Mix 1/4 tsp of borax powder into a 1/2 of warm water to make your slime activator solution.
Borax powder mixed with hot water is the slime activator that creates the rubbery, slimy texture you can’t wait to play with! It’s super easy to whip up this homemade slime recipe once you get the hang of it.

STEP 4. Pour the borax/water solution into the glue and water mixture and stir well. You will see it come together right away. It will seem stringy and clumpy, but that’s ok!
Remove the slime from the bowl and knead the mixture for a few minutes. Discard any leftover borax solution.
TOO STICKY? If your slime still feels too sticky, you may need a few more drops of borax solution. You can always add but you can’t take away. The more activator solution you add, the stiffer the slime will become over time. Make sure to spend extra time kneading the slime instead!

STORING YOUR PARTY SLIME
Slime lasts quite a while! I get a lot of questions regarding how I store my slime. We use reusable containers in either plastic or glass. Make sure to keep your slime clean and it will last for several weeks.
If you want to send kids home with a bit of slime from a New Years Eve party, or classroom project, I would suggest packages of reusable containers from the dollar store or grocery store or even Amazon. For large groups we have used condiment containers.
