DIY Luminary Lanterns
I like quick and easy crafts with minimal supplies, minimal mess, and minimal instructions! I don’t keep a lot of supplies on hand, so I am always looking for frugal and simple ideas.
These super easy paper luminaries are the perfect crafting idea for us. I thought a few luminaries would be a fun activity to celebrate the Winter solstice this season. Our afternoons are pretty dark here!
I call these paper cup luminaries, but as you could also make luminaries out of plastic cups or even scrapbook paper. I bet paper towel tubes work nicely too.
Supplies:
- Paper Cups
- Pretty Scrapbook Paper
- Hole Punch
- Flameless Tea Lights {battery operated}
How To Make Luminaries
STEP 1. Cut the bottoms out of the cups for a better glow. This is definitely an adult required step. Kids can do the hole punching! If you have other shaped paper punches, those will work too.
STEP 2. Make holes in the paper cups, plastic cups, or sparkly paper with a hole punch.
STEP 3. If using card stock, roll into a tube shape and secure. It’s that simple to make these cute paper cup luminaries!
STEP 4. Switch on the flames tea lights and place your paper cup luminaries {or plastic cup or paper} on top! That’s it!
Celebrate the dark days of the Winter solstice with simple paper luminaries that lights up the night! Light up your night or very dark afternoon with easy to make luminaries lanterns. Enjoy the dark days a little bit more!
