DIY Summer Space Camp for Kids
SPACE CAMP FOR KIDS
Take your kids on an adventure from home or the classroom to outer space! Spend an entire week of learning about space and space-themed experiments!
Kids will learn all about the phases of the moon, how to build a space shuttle and a satellite, and all about constellations with these hands-on projects!
Summer can be a busy time, so we didn’t add any projects that will take a ton of time or prep to make these activities possible. Most of these can be done quickly, with variations, reflection, and questions extending the activity as you have time to do so. However, if you have the time, feel free to linger and enjoy the activities too!
SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS FOR KIDS
Obviously, we can’t travel to space, or send our kids there to learn for themselves. The next best step to a hands-on learning process with space is to utilize some of these experiments and projects that will help them understand space with a hands-on learning experience.
You can set up your science experiments as an activity focusing on exploration and discovery. Make sure to ask kids questions at each step, discuss what is happening and talk about the science behind it.
Alternatively, you can introduce the scientific method, get kids to record their observations, and make conclusions. Read more about the scientific method for kids to help you get started.
