Christmas Math Activity Tray
This was a quick and simple Christmas math activity tray to throw together! We have been working on counting above 20 and also working on the numbers 30, 40 , 50 and beyond. We have been trying to find fun ways to encourage him to learn these numbers since he actually does love to count. This simple counting Christmas math activity tray was perfect. We had fun, and he did a great job practicing his one to one correspondence and learning his numbers past 20!
Simple Math Activity Tray Set Up
I hunted around and found different items to count with for the numbers 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50! Bows, buttons, pom pons, jingle bells, and gems are easy items to count. I added a mason jar to the middle for him to use for counting each item. He ended up wanting one for every thing! I cut strips of paper and wrote the numbers 10, 20 , 30, 40 and 50.
I let him randomly pick a compartment to start the counting math activity. He eagerly counted and I helped him to pick out the number 40 and understand that it came after 39. We reviewed it a few times in different ways.
The bows were an easy 10. He had no trouble picking out the number associated with the bows!
The buttons were also an easier 20 but he still needs practice recognizing this number as well. Though it is easier than the higher numbers! He certainly was very pleased with himself when he completed this task and put all the mason jars in order with the right numbers in front of each one! We reviewed the numbers once again and will continue to do so this winter! Simple Christmas math activity that makes learning fun!
