FALL LEAF CRAFT WITH YARN ART!
ART WITH LEAVES
I’m excited to share more art and crafts projects this fall that pair with an interesting style of art! This leaf project is all about creating textile art. Although there’s a finished project to enjoy and display, this leaf project still has room for plenty of creative styles.
Plus, it’s pretty easy to make with preschoolers as well as older kiddos and it’s also not that messy! Make colorful fall leaves for easy textile art for kids.
WHAT IS TEXTILE ART?
Textile art is the process of creating something using fibers gained from sources like plants, animals, or synthetic materials. This textile art project is great for fine motor development and can be used to work on developmental goals, functional skills, and dexterity. Plus, it’s fun and the result is an amazing and colorful fall theme decoration.

YOU WILL NEED:
- Printable leaf template
- Yarn (orange, green)
What else could you wrap around the cardboard leaf? Try ribbon, fabric scraps, or even raffia.
HOW TO MAKE YARN LEAVES
STEP 1: Print and cut out the leaf template or draw your own. Then trace the leaves onto cardboard and cut it out.
TIP: If you are doing this activity with multiple kiddos or a larger group, you might want to cut everything out ahead of time! This is particularly helpful if you are low on time or don’t have enough scissors for everyone.
STEP 2: Brush the cardboard leaf with glue.
STEP 3: Tape an end of the yarn to the leaf and start wrapping!
STEP 4: Wrap and wrap some more! Add different fall colors to your leaf. You can also wrap the leaf stem or alternatively color the stem with a marker.
STEP 5: Tie off the ends when you are finished!
