Activities To Use With The Worksheets

Here are a few additional math activities to complement your fall place value worksheets.

Place Value Scavenger Hunt

Students are given a list of items to find around the classroom or school that represent ones, tens, or hundreds. Examples include one pencil, a bundle of ten straws, and 100 paper clips. After collecting the items, students can group and label them based on their place value.

Place Value Chart Creation

Provide students with large sheets of paper and ask them to create their own place value charts. They can draw columns for ones, tens, and hundreds.

Then use small objects (like stickers or cut-out shapes) to represent numbers in each column. For example, they might place 4 stickers in the tens column and 7 in the ones column to represent the number 47.

Place Value Dice Roll

Provide each student with two or three dice. Students roll the dice and then arrange the numbers in different orders to create the largest and smallest possible numbers. For example, if students roll a 4, 3, and 7, they can make 743, 437, etc.

Have students write down their numbers in a place value chart. They can discuss which digit represents the ones, tens, or hundreds place. You can extend this activity by having students compare their numbers with a partner’s to see who created the largest or smallest number.
