SUPPLIES:

  • Cardboard (cereal box)
  • Green yarn
  • Hole punch
  • Clear tape
  • Decorations – pom poms, sequins
  • Markers – yellow, brown
  • Glue
  • Scissors

INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP 1. Begin by cutting a section of card from a piece of cardboard. We used cereal boxes and then simply cut the front and back of the box in half.

STEP 2. Draw a large triangle on the cardboard and carefully cut out the triangle. Younger children will need assistance from an adult.

STEP 3. Punch holes all around the outside of the triangle.

STEP 4. Cut a large strand of yarn. Insert one end through a hole and tape to what was the front and is now the back of the cardboard.

TIP: Use another small piece of tape to wrap around the other end so that it doesn’t fray and is easier to lace through the holes.

STEP 5. Start threading the yarn through the holes at random.

Once finished lacing, tape the final end to the back of the cardboard, as well.

STEP 6. Use glue to add poms or sequins to the tree. You could also use gems or buttons.

STEP 6. Finally, use a yellow marker to draw a star on top and draw a trunk with the brown marker, too.
