What Makes Fluffy Slime Fluffy?
The secret to fluffy slime is shaving cream foam! The shaving cream adds extra air to the slime mixture, creating a lighter, puffier texture compared to classic slime recipes.
Saline solution acts as a slime activator by helping glue molecules bond to form slime. This process creates the stretchy polymer texture kids love.
Fluffy Slime Ingredients
- 1/2 cup white washable school glue
- 3 cups foam shaving cream
- 1 tablespoon saline solution
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- Food coloring (optional)
Important:
Your saline solution must contain:
- boric acid
- sodium borate
These ingredients help activate the slime properly.
💡 Note: Saline solution and contact solution are not the same thing. We prefer saline solution because it is inexpensive and readily available. Try the Up and Up brand from Target or the Equate brand from Walmart.
How To Make Fluffy Slime
STEP 1
Measure three heaping cups of foam shaving cream into a large mixing bowl.
💡 You can experiment with different amounts of shaving cream for different slime textures.
STEP 2
Add several drops of food coloring and gently mix.
STEP 3
Add 1/2 cup of glue to the shaving cream mixture and stir gently.
STEP 4
Add 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and mix well.
💡 The baking soda helps firm and shape the slime.
STEP 5
Add one tablespoon of saline solution and begin mixing.
The slime will start pulling away from the sides of the bowl as it forms.
If the slime feels too sticky, add a few extra drops of saline solution.
💡 Don’t add too much activator! Extra saline solution can create rubbery slime instead of stretchy slime.
STEP 6
Remove the slime from the bowl and knead it with your hands until smooth and stretchy. Make a few colors and mix them together as we did below!
💡 Tip: Add a drop or two of saline solution to your hands before kneading to reduce stickiness.
