Who is Georgia O’Keeffe?
Georgia O’Keeffe (1887โ1986) was an American artist celebrated for her striking paintings of enlarged flowers, towering New York skyscrapers, and the sweeping landscapes of New Mexico. Her unique approach to art expressed how nature made her feel, earning her recognition as a trailblazer of American modernism.
Although best known for her oil paintings, O’Keeffe also worked with other mediums like charcoal, watercolors, and pastels. Pastels became her favorite, offering the ability to create soft, blurred edges or crisp, defined lines. Her technique was so hands-on that you can often see her fingerprints pressed into the paper of her pastel works.
Now itโs your turn to blend vibrant colors and explore this expressive medium! Try our Poinsettia Art Project inspired by O’Keeffeโs love of nature and bold, beautiful designs.
