Rain Painting For Easy Outdoor Art

Take your art project outdoors the next time it rains! Yes, its called rain painting! All you need are a few supplies including watercolor pencils and heavy paper. Then let the rain transform your drawing into a masterpiece! Kiddos of all ages will enjoy this neat art process using the rain. Want to try something different, then get on board with this easy and fun rain painting technique! We love simple art ideas for kids!

PAINTING WITH RAIN!

Art using a rainy day is a MUST try art activity for kids. It works as well for toddlers as it does with teens, so you can include the whole family in the fun. Rain painting is also budget-friendly making it perfect for large groups and classroom projects! Plus, this colorful art activity is meant to be set up outside and is easy to clean up.

RAIN PAINTING

Are you ready to use Mother Nature to help you with your art project?  No rain? No problem! You can still take this art project outside and use a spray bottle or even a watering can!

YOU WILL NEED:

  • Watercolor pencils
  • White card stock
  • A rainy day or spray bottle

TIP: You can also use washable markers! See our coffee filter flowers as an example.

HOW TO PAINT WITH RAIN

STEP 1: Draw a colorful image of your choice on card stock using watercolor pencils. Remember, washable markers work well too! 

STEP 2: Place your drawing outside in the rain. Use a cookie sheet or a craft tray to hold the paper if desired.

Let the rain work its magic!

Not enough rain? Grab a spray bottle or watering can to help the project along!

Now hang your rain painting artwork up to dry.
