Every now and then, I love to throw together a brand new playdough recipe for a morning’s sensory play session. We don’t often buy playdough from the store these days.

He loves it when I start pulling out fun ingredients from the cupboard and tell him we will invent a new dough to play with today! I think he loves the novelty of creating something brand new!

This is such a pliable, soft, and easy Thanksgiving no-cook playdough recipe to use for Thanksgiving play. It smells and feels wonderful. The corn and oats add great texture to our Thanksgiving harvest play!

We talked quite a bit about harvest and what foods might be harvested this time of year! Already this season, we have watched harvest and farm videos, read books about harvest,  explored Fall’s harvest colors, and made fall sensory bins! We love simple and hands-on farm activities for preschoolers!

This would be a perfect no cook playdough recipe to throw together for Thanksgiving play or to keep the kids busy while you are cooking and baking! It really is that simple.

Create a Playdough Feast

Use playdough to craft a miniature Thanksgiving feast. Mold playdough into various food items such as turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, vegetables, and pumpkin pie. Encourage kids to arrange the items on a playdough plate to create their own Thanksgiving dinner.

Design A Turkey

Shape playdough into turkey figures, using different colors for the feathers, beak, and wattle. Add googly eyes and small sticks or toothpicks for the legs. These playdough turkeys can be used as decorations for the Thanksgiving table or as part of an art project.

Make Gratitude Turkeys

Create playdough turkeys with a twist by incorporating messages of gratitude. Write or mold messages of thanks onto the feathers of the playdough turkey. Each feather could contain something a child is thankful for.

Add A Book

While we were playing, I grabbed a favorite Thanksgiving book, Bear Says Thanks by Karma WilsonWe made a party for the animals and talked about the food and friends we are thankful for as well!
