Thanksgiving LEGO Challenges
No Turkey Day is complete without our LEGO challenges. These Thanksgiving-themed brick-building challenges are the perfect blend of creativity and engineering. Whether you are building a piece of pumpkin pie or racing to build a turkey, these activities will engage kids in hands-on learning.
💡 Grade Level: These challenges are ideal for kids in elementary school (grades 1-5). They can be adjusted for older or younger children by modifying the complexity of the designs or the speed of the challenges.
Supplies:
- Brick building baseplate
- Assorted bricks
- Timer or stopwatch (optional)
- Partner (optional for team and race challenges)

How to Use Thanksgiving LEGO Task Cards
Choose a Challenge: Pick from various Thanksgiving designs, such as a turkey leg, ship, corn, or pilgrim hat. Each challenge has a unique twist, including building it taller, color changes, estimation, or symmetry.
Follow the Template: Use the template to replicate the design, or get creative with your own style!
Complete the Challenge: Test your skills by trying out tasks like building with your opposite hand, racing a friend, or completing a design before the timer runs out.
Team Up: Some challenges are best tackled with a partner. Take turns rolling a dice and adding bricks to the board until you finish the design together.

- Teamwork Challenge: Work with a partner on the pie. Roll the dice to determine how many bricks to add, and take turns until the design is complete.
- Build It Up Challenge: Double the height of the turkey leg by adding an extra layer of bricks.
- Timer Challenge: Can you build the turkey in under three minutes? Ready, set, go!
- Race Challenge: Grab a friend and race to complete the pie design first!
- Symmetry Challenge: Build both halves of the wishbone, keeping it perfectly symmetrical.
- Color Change Challenge: Rebuild the ship with a different color scheme, avoiding white, brown, and blue.
- Estimation Challenge: Guess how many bricks you’ll need to build the corn, then count to see if your estimate was correct.
- Opposite Hand Challenge: Build the pilgrim hat using your non-dominant hand.
- Upside Down Challenge: Try building the cornucopia design upside down while keeping the template right-side up.
- Twice is Nice Challenge: Time yourself building the turkey, then build it again and try to beat your first time.
