These fall building cards are an easy way to add hands-on STEM to your season without needing special supplies.
Kids can work independently, build with a partner, or use the cards in a STEM center, morning tub, indoor recess activity, or homeschool lesson.
All you need is a bin of bricks and the printable challenge cards.

Don’t have the exact colors shown? Use what you have! Substituting pieces and colors gives kids another opportunity to problem-solve.
How to Use the Fall LEGO Challenge Cards
Choose a challenge card and gather the bricks you want to use. Kids can follow the picture while completing the extra challenge printed on the card.
Some challenges focus on speed or coordination, while others add math, symmetry, estimation, or creative design.
Try the cards one at a time or set out several and let kids choose.
What’s Included in the Fall LEGO Task Cards
Three-Story Challenge: Build the rake three times as tall by creating three layers of bricks.
Timer Challenge: Build the mushroom in two minutes or less.
Race Challenge: Grab a partner and race to see who can finish the pumpkin first.
Symmetry Challenge: Build both halves of the symmetrical fall leaf.
Fall Colors Challenge: Rebuild the tree using red, orange, yellow, and brown bricks.
Estimation Challenge: Estimate how many bricks you’ll need to build the corn. Then build it and count the pieces you actually used.
Opposite Hand Challenge: Build the sunflower using your non-dominant hand.
Upside Down Challenge: Build the apple upside down while keeping the card right-side up.
Music Challenge: Play a favorite song and try to finish the acorn before the music ends.
Twice Is Nice Challenge: Time yourself building the apple basket. Then build it again and see whether you can beat your first time.
