What Is A Zentangle?

A zentangle is an unplanned and structured pattern usually created on small square tiles in black and white. The patterns are called tangles.

You can make a tangle with one or a combination of dots, lines, curves, etc. There are no strict rules for how they should be combined or used.

Zentangle art can be very relaxing because there is no pressure to focus on the result. It is an excellent example of process art! Keep reading to learn more about process art for kids.

Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas developed it in the early 2000s and is often described as “yoga for the brain” because it promotes relaxation, mindfulness, and creativity.

TIP: One of the important things to remember about zentangling is that mistakes are ok! Avoid the erasers if you can, and embrace the imperfections!

Draw zentangle patterns on our pumpkin printable below to make your own pumpkin zentangle. Relaxing and mindful art for kids of all ages! Let’s get started!
