Building Block Challenge
What Will Your Child Build?

Simple Hands- On and Screen -Free Play!
Do your kids like to build, create, construct, engineer? Have I got a screen free challenge for you! Whether you have a seasoned builder, a reluctant builder or a new builder, everyone can enjoy this building blocks activity challenge. Just because it is screen free week, it doesn’t mean finding extravagant activities to fill time. Take what you have and put a twist on it. I can’t say we will be completely screen free, but I know we had quite a bit of fun this morning with our challenge! Building blocks activities are always perfect for hands-on play too. There is so much to be learned through simple hands-on play!
Take The Challenge
Rules: Not to many. Set out a building material or several. Grab a timer. Based on the age and ability of the child, you can structure the challenge several ways. I chose to pick four unique building toys and give him a 5 minute challenge per material. Legos, table top wooden blocks, SmatMax magnetic building toys and Fisher Price Trio. Liam needs lots of encouragement to participate in building activities, so I chose a few different things and made each one quick! You could easily pick one building toy and give it a 20 minute time challenge!
Our Challenge
Liam started off on his challenge while I got some work done at the computer. I was hoping to use this as mean to show how fun independent play can be for him. Though I still sat with him and encouraged his progress. We moved through each well and it was interesting to see what he came up with on his own and which building toys he prefers. Sadly, either he was done with the activity by the time we got to Legos or he just doesn’t care much for them. I bet we will be trying this one again!
Ready, Set, Build!
I hope you take the building blocks challenge this week and see what happens?
