GOLD SLIME RECIPEÂ
For this gold slime, we started with our liquid starch slime recipe. I highly suggest either the slime recipe with liquid starch or our  slime recipe with saline solution.
YOU WILL NEED:
- 1/2 Cup of Clear Washable School Glue (PVA)
- 1/4/-1/2 Cup of Liquid Starch
- 1/2 Cup of Water
- Yellow Food Coloring
- Yellow Gold Glitter
- Theme Accessories
SLIME SUPPLIES TIP:  A couple of notes for this gold glitter slime recipe: I used 5 drops of yellow liquid food coloring and lots of gold glitter. We do use glitter in lots of our slime recipes and always have silver and gold glitter on hand! Check your dollar store for awesome and cheap yellow gold glitter.Â
HOW TO MAKE GOLD SLIME
STEP 1:  In a bowl mix 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup of glue (mix well to combine completely).
STEP 2: Now’s the time to add yellow color and gold glitter!  You can never add too much glitter! Mix the gold glitter and yellow food coloring into the glue and water mixture.
STEP 3: Pour in 1/4 cup of liquid starch. You will see the slime immediately start to form. Keep stirring until you have a gooey blob of slime. The liquid should be gone!
STEP 4:Â Start kneading your slime! It will appear stringy at first but just work it around with your hands and you will notice the consistency changes. You can also put it in a clean container and set it aside for 3 minutes, and you will also notice the change in consistency!Â
GOLD SLIMEÂ VARIATIONS
We have two additional ways to make gold slime for different effects!  You can also use gold glitter glue and gold leaf foil.
SLIME SCIENCE
What’s the science behind the slime? The borate ions in the slime activators (sodium borate, borax powder, or boric acid) mix with the PVA (polyvinyl acetate) glue and forms this cool stretchy substance. This is called cross-linking!
The glue is a polymer and is made up of long, repeating, and identical strands or molecules. These molecules with flow past one another keeping the glue in a liquid state. Until…Â you add the borate ions to the mixture, it then starts to connect these long strands together. They begin to tangle and mix until the substance is less like the liquid you started with and thicker and rubbery!
Picture the difference between wet spaghetti and leftover spaghetti the next day. As the slime forms the tangled molecule strands are much like the clump of spaghetti!
Is slime a liquid or solid? We call it a Non-Newtonian fluid because it’s a little bit of both!
Did you know that slime aligns with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)?Â
It does and you can use slime making to explore states of matter and its interactions. Find out more below…
This gold slime is wonderfully stretchy! Why not add in some counting with the coins too?
