LICHTENSTEIN VALENTINE’S DAY CARDS

SUPPLIES:
- Valentine Card Templates (see below)
- Markers
- Glue stick
- Scissors
INSTRUCTIONS:
STEP 1: Print out the card templates.
STEP 2: Use markers to color in the pop art shapes.
Also color in the edge of the cards.
STEP 3. Cut out the shapes and cards.
STEP 4: Put the cards together any way you like, using a glue stick to attach the shapes.
Add a sweet Valentine’s message and give to someone you appreciate!
WHO IS ROY LICHTENSTEIN?
Lichtenstein is best known for his bold, colorful paintings featuring popular culture images, such as comic strips and advertisements.
He used a unique technique called “Ben-Day dots” to create the appearance of a printed image, and his works often incorporated words
and phrases in a bold, graphic style.
He was an American artist known for his contributions to the Pop Art movement that was popular in the 1960’s. Lichtenstein, Yayoi Kusama and Andy Warhol were some of the most influential artists of the Pop Art movement.
Lichtenstein was born in New York City in 1923 and studied art at Ohio State University before serving in World War II. After the war, he continued his studies and eventually became a teacher.
