New Years Discovery Bottle
Simple New Year’s Sensory Activity for Kids
New Years Eve or New Years Day can be a fun time for young children! Maybe they can’t stay up late yet or aren’t old enough to join in the big kid parties, but there are fun and simple ways to include the youngest child in a little something extra special on New Years! We have had a fizzy baking soda science party, made a cool New Years slime with party popper play, and made super easy but a little messy confetti ornaments for celebrating! Today we gathered up some quick materials to make a simple New Years Discovery Bottle or sensory bottle!
New Years Discovery Bottle
What would you include in a New Years discovery bottle? I looked around the house at our craft supplies and came up with some fun ideas for our New Years discovery bottle! Many of the items are from the dollar store too!
Simple Supply Ideas:
- VOSS water bottle {or any water bottle will do}. We love making discovery bottles of all sorts!
- Water
- Glitter glue
- Glitter
- Sequins
- Curly Ribbon
- Curly Pipe Cleaners
- Foam Numbers 2015
- Fun Sparkly Items like beads, balls, and snowflakes!
How To Make A New Year Discovery Bottle
First I filled the bottle 2/3 way with water and then added glitter glue and glitter. Mix well! Have fun adding all the little items! We noticed right away the numbers weren’t going to sink! A little science lesson too. No worries, move the bottle around and the numbers move too!
Beautiful to shake and turn. Help your child pick out the numbers for the New Year! Also makes a great calm down bottle to hand your child if he or she might be feeling overwhelmed with the events!
Glittery and sparkly just like New Year’s Eve! Simple and fun New Year Discovery Bottle for sensory play!

Wow, amazing website! I have a 10yo son with autism, and we homeschool…he still benefits from sensory activities and I am excited to find so many that are not just for little kids. Can’t wait to make the melting snowmen! 🙂
