HOW TO MAKE EYEBALL SLIME
HALLOWEEN CLEAR SLIME
Whip up a batch of our clear slime, and give it a zombie theme for Halloween! This is one of our most basic slime recipes using clear glue. What you add makes it cool or creepy or gross and anything to do with brains and eyeballs is a big hit. For some strange reason, we are out of the plastic spiders, but you can totally add them too. Look for the recipe and supplies below.
We found some great things at are local dollar store this season including a plastic brain mold! There’s a few fun things you can do with this item, so it’s well worth the dollar spent.

EYEBALLS FOR HALLOWEEN
Our homemade clear glue slime is easy to make and can last quite a while if stored in a reusable container. In fact ours has been sitting in a glass container on the counter for over a week now! I love the plastic eyeballs you can add to it too.
We also will use these eyeballs when we play with our homemade Halloween catapult. Another simple science idea perfect for exploring physics.
SLIME SCIENCE
So what’s the science behind the slime? The borate ions in the starch {or borax powder or boric acid} mixes with the PVA {polyvinyl-acetate} glue and forms this cool stretchy substance.
This is called cross linking! The glue is a polymer and is made up of long, repeating, and identical strands or molecules. These molecules with flow past one another keeping the glue in a liquid state.
The addition of water is important to this process. Think about when you leave a gob of glue out, and you find it hard and rubbery the next day. When you add the borate ions to the mixture, it starts to connect these long strands together. They begin to tangle and mix until the substance is less like the liquid you started with and is thicker and rubberier like slime!

EYEBALL SLIME RECIPE
This eyeball clear slime uses our classic borax slime recipe because our other awesome slime recipes will leave the slime looking cloudier {which is still fine}! You can also try… Clear Glue Slime Recipe!
Now if you don’t want to use borax powder, you can absolutely test out one of our other basic recipes using liquid starch or saline solution.
SUPPLIES
- 1/2 cup Clear Washable PVA School Glue
- 1/4 tsp Borax PowderÂ
- 1 cup of water divided into half cups
- Fun Items Like Brains and Eyeballs
HOW TO MAKE EYEBALL SLIME
STEP 1: Dissolve 1/4 teaspoon of borax powder into 1/2 cup of warm water. Mix this thoroughly.
STEP 2: In another bowl measure out about 1/2 cup of clear glue and mix with 1/2 cup of water until well mixed.
STEP 3: Add the plastic eyeballs or spiders to the mixture and stir in.
STEP 4: Pour borax/water mixture into glue/water mixture and stir it up! You will see it come together right away. It will seem stringy and clumpy, but that’s ok! Remove from bowl.
STEP 4: Spend a few minutes kneading the mixture together. You may have leftover borax solution.
Knead and play with your slime until smooth and stretchy! If you want the slime to look like liquid glass, find out the secret here.
SLIMY TIP: Remember, slime does not like to be pulled quickly as it will surely snap due to its chemical composition (read slime science here). Stretch your slime slowly and you will really see it’s full stretchiest potential!
There you have it! Totally awesome and easy Halloween slime recipe idea for making your own homemade slime with the kids. I haven’t met a kid yet who doesn’t love slime!
If you have always thought that slime making looks difficult, it really isn’t. It is a recipe that needs to be followed, but it’s rare for us to have a slime fail. Sometimes you just need a little practice with a favorite recipe right!
