GET STARTED WITH THE BEST STEM ACTIVITIES!

I started this BEST OF STEM ACTIVITIES post tow years ago, and thought I would update it with more great ideas for each month. This past year we have been enjoying even more STEM  and STEAM activities. These awesome STEM activities are perfect for young kids to get started with the idea of STEM. Bring more science and STEM into your year.

We have now hosted two STEM resources series in the past two years. Both are filled with great ideas and last year’s STEM resource guide was a huge collaborative effort of bloggers who love STEM. You can learn about STEM at home, STEM in the classroom, STEM for homeschool and more!

 LEARN ALL ABOUT STEM

STEM is science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Usually, a STEM project is a combination of two or more of these core elements. You can read more about STEM here to get started.

You may hear it referred to as STEAM which is STEM + Art! In our A-Z of STEM series, you will see several gorgeous STEAM activities! What can kids learn from STEM, find out here!

This list of our best STEM activities is a good representation of what STEM is all about. We also have a few other collections for related activities to check out.

THE BEST STEM ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS ALL YEAR!

I am pleased that the majority of our best STEM activities do not require inexpensive materials, long set up times, or confusing directions.

We use what we have around the house. Sometimes I visit the dollar store or hardware store to supplement ideas. I ALWAYS keep a big box where I toss unusual items I find from packaging or recycled items that may come in handy later.

You can learn more about setting up for good, cheap STEM activities with the two resources below.

  • DOLLAR STORE ENGINEERING KIT
  • INEXPENSIVE TSEM SUPPLIES FOR KIDS

Additionally, we have been creating FREE STEM challenge cards and supply lists which you will find included with our holiday countdowns or seasonal selections!

I don’t really see how it’s teaching unless there’s something to explain the stem behind making it? Why are they making this certain project , what does building actually teach?
