LEGO Summer Camp Tips
Setting up a LEGO summer camp theme for kids can be incredibly fun and educational. Here are some tips and tricks to make it engaging and memorable:
Plan a Theme: Choose a theme that excites the kids, such as space exploration, medieval adventures, or city building. This will provide a framework for activities and spark creativity.
Organize Activities: Plan a variety of activities to keep the kids engaged throughout the camp. This could include building challenges, storytelling sessions using LEGO creations, building competitions, and collaborative projects.
Set Up Building Stations: Create different building stations with LEGO sets and bricks organized by theme or difficulty level. Ensure enough space for kids to work comfortably and access pieces easily.

- Make LEGO art.
Provide Inspiration: Display LEGO models, posters, or videos related to the theme to inspire creativity and provide ideas for building projects. Encourage kids to use their imagination and think outside the box.
Include STEM Challenges: Integrate STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) challenges into the camp activities. Grab our LEGO challenge calendar here.
💡 For example, challenge kids to build a bridge supporting a certain weight, a tower as tall as the door frame, or a vehicle that can move using simple machines.
Incorporate Storytelling: Use LEGO creations as props for storytelling sessions. Encourage kids to build characters, settings, and props from their favorite stories or create their narratives.
💡Creative Story Free Build: Pick a theme. Set a time limit. Kids will build something to represent that theme and present it to the group with a short story about how it came to be. Kids can combine all their builds for the specific theme and create a short story together. Have an adult scribe to keep it fun and light!
Promote Collaboration: Encourage teamwork and collaboration by assigning group projects or challenges that require kids to work together to achieve a common goal. This fosters communication skills and cooperation among campers.
Include Break Time Activities: Plan breaks between activities for snacks, games, or outdoor play to give kids a chance to recharge and socialize with their peers.
Encourage Creativity: Encourage campers to experiment with different building techniques, colors, and shapes. Provide opportunities for free-building sessions where kids can explore their own interests and ideas.
💡TIP: Search your local online marketplace for bins of loose bricks! This is a fantastic way to get a large selection of LEGO bricks for a cheaper price. This is perfect for LEGO challenges and free building.
